Dr Isobel Parkes, female

BMedSci, BM, BS (Nottingham University) 1991, MRCP (London), FRCGP, DFFP, LoC IUT and LoC SDI, and DPD (Cardiff)

Park Lane Surgery has been where I have been very fortunate to practice since 1999 when I joined as a partner after doing GP training in Derby. It has been the perfect place to settle and bring up my family having come from the area. Following medical student years at Nottingham University I worked in hospital jobs in Nottingham and West Yorkshire and medical rotations in Leeds and Nottingham. Dermatology was a special interest before general practice and I have completed a further postgraduate diploma, (DPD) since becoming a GP. Other interests are Women’s and Sexual Health, minor surgery and joint injections. Other current roles include GP appraiser, deputy medical referee and GP PCN early cancer diagnosis lead.

Dr Dylan Kay, male

BSc(Hons), BA(Hons), MB ChB, MSc, MRCGP (2016), MRSB, DipHE

I initially embarked on a career as a biologist and hold membership of the Royal Society of Biology. To make “more of a difference “, I forged a career in nursing eventually practicing as an advanced nurse practitioner in primary care. My ongoing thirst for knowledge and understanding then took me to Leicester Medical School’s graduate entry medicine programme. Here my wish to be a family doctor was reaffirmed. Following happy tenures at Barton Under Needwood and Tutbury I settled at Park Lane; a surgery that was unapologetically traditional in its focus as a family GP surgery but not old fashioned.

My interests include teaching, lecturing, fountain pens and Lego (sometimes even letting my children play with it).

Dr Gillian Davidson, female

BMed Sci. BM BS 1994 MRCGP DFFP

I qualified as a doctor at Nottingham University in 1994, and enjoyed working in London and Canada before settling in Derby in 1999.

I have worked locally as a GP since then, becoming a partner at Park Lane surgery 5 years ago. I believe that a GP is the patients advocate when it comes to the healthcare system and so have become Clinical Director of Greater Derby PCN, and Clinical Lead of Derby City Place in order to keep patients central to everything that happens in the Derby area.

Dr Marta Turner, female

MUDr. MRCGP

Originally from Czech Republic; I qualified as a doctor at Charles University in Prague in 2010. During my qualification years, I had a gap year in the USA. Upon my return, I finished my medical degree whilst working a part time job for an international medical company, coordinating medical care and highly equipped medical transportation to enable repatriation of patients locally as well as across continents.

Upon graduating medical school; I gained further medical qualifications in Germany where I practised as a doctor before moving to the UK. I have been working for the NHS since 2012, gaining my qualifications as a GP in 2021, whilst also being a busy mum.

Recently, I have been fortunate to join Park Lane Surgery. Having been able to live and practice medicine in different languages and countries, I have realised the importance of patient centred care. To me, this is a foundation stone for general practice and is well established in Park Lane Surgery.

Dr Rhynal Rodrigues, male

BSc, MBBS, MRCGP

Originally from Trinidad and Tobago, I attended medical school in Jamaica before completing my internship training in Trinidad. I moved to the UK in 2019, shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic, and went on to complete my GP training and attain my MRCGP qualification in 2025. Having worked in a variety of healthcare settings and alongside people from many different backgrounds and cultures, I feel these experiences have helped shape me into a compassionate and approachable doctor who values listening carefully to patients and understanding what matters most to them.

My interests within general practice include patient-centred care, quality improvement, teaching and leadership. I particularly value building long-term relationships with patients and helping people feel comfortable, supported and involved in their healthcare decisions. To me, one of the most rewarding aspects of general practice is having the privilege of supporting patients and families through all stages of life.

Outside of work, family is the most important part of my life, and much of my time is spent with my wife and young son — and as a very proud husband and father, there’s a good chance you may end up seeing a photo or two of him during conversation.

It is a genuine privilege to be part of the team at Park Lane Surgery and to care for the local community. I look forward to meeting you and supporting you with your healthcare needs.
